![]() ![]() This can happen when certain applications don’t close properly and don’t give the mouse back. Click the Change advanced power settings link. Click the Change plan settings link for the selected plan. Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Power Options. Sometimes your mouse pointer keeps disappearing because an off-screen application has captured it. On the right side, double-click the Attributes DWORD. Use Alt+Tab or Task Manager to Release a Captured Pointer Updating the application and your GPU drivers should be your first action, but if that doesn’t work check the software’s documentation to see where you can toggle hardware acceleration off. Unfortunately, this sometimes means that the pointer disappears because of compatibility problems. This might happen because that application is trying to use hardware acceleration to render things more quickly and smoothly. Common examples include video player applications and web browsers such as Chrome. Open it and press the Tab key enough times to highlight the button at the top. Search for Touchpad settings through the search bar near the Start button. Sometimes a mouse pointer disappears only when it moves over certain applications. Check the mouse settings built-in to your laptop. ![]() If Your Pointer Only Disappears in Certain Apps I could be wrong, but I think the path of least resistance is to fool the tablet into thinking that a mouse is connected. ![]() Then the desktops cursor appeared on the tablet but when I switched back to desktop control the cursor disappeared. Press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys altogether. FWIW I just tried a 'Switch sides with partner' and then checked 'Show remote cursor' on the tablet. So, we suggest restarting Windows Explorer and checking again if the problem resolves this way. I have a Mac and open Citrix Cloud via Microsoft Edge. Any internal conflicts with system processes on File Explorer might cause the taskbar to go missing on your Remote desktop. I know it is not a mouse issue as I am able to click outside of the remote connection window and continue browsing with no problem. It is only within the remote desktop window that the mouse is gone. It can also be that your GPU driver needs to be updated, so that it plays nicely with a newer mouse driver. Within the remote desktop, from time to time my mouse disappears within the session. Alternatively, perhaps you should roll back a new mouse driver which may be causing problems. While Windows usually does a good job of keeping things up to date, you may want to manually check that your mouse drivers are up to date. ![]() If this isn't a suitable solution, you can enable plug and play for the remote session. If your mouse has this feature, make sure it’s set to the correct profile for the computer you want to use it on. It's possible that the remote OS simply lacks the device drivers needed for the user's mouse and that using a different mouse solves the problem. I tried different options on both my and the remote system, but no avail. On that virtual desktop, the mouse pointer turns white on most white pages, and so does the Excel pointer so it is more or less invisible. So you can switch between different devices at the touch of a button. The other day I switched to Windows 11, the virtual desktop which I use in my clients network is Windows 10.
